“Through Jesus,
therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise, the fruit of
lips that openly profess His name. And do not forget to do good and to share
with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.” Hebrews 13:15-16
Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ, may the Grace of Lord Jesus, the Love of God and the Communion of the Holy Spirit, be with you all !!!
Praise in Every Season:
A True Sacrifice
Brothers and sisters in
Christ, have you ever found it difficult to praise God when life doesn’t go as
expected? When trials weigh heavy, when prayers seem unanswered, and when
darkness overshadows hope, how do we lift our voices in praise? The Letter to
the Hebrews reminds us that praise is not merely an act of joy but also a sacrifice,
a sacred offering to God, even in moments of sorrow and uncertainty.
The Psalmist declares:
“But You are holy, enthroned in the praises of Israel.” (Psalm 22:3)
This means that our
praise is a throne upon which God reigns. When we praise Him, not just in
times of abundance but in times of struggle, we invite His presence into our
situation. Praise is an act of faith. It declares that no matter what we
face, God is still sovereign, still good, and still worthy of all honor.
The Power of Praise in
Difficult Moments
Saint Paul, even when
imprisoned, did not cease to sing praises to God. Acts 16:25 tells us:
“About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and
the other prisoners were listening to them.”
What happened next? The
prison doors flung open, and their chains were broken! Praise breaks chains.
It shifts atmospheres. It opens doors that human strength cannot.
Saint John Chrysostom
once said:
“A Christian is not his own master; his time is God's.”
If our time belongs to
God, then should we not use every moment to glorify Him, whether in joy or in
suffering? The saints remind us: “In all things, let us give thanks to the
Lord.”
Praise and Charity: A
Double Sacrifice Pleasing to God
But the Letter to the
Hebrews does not stop at words of praise. It calls us to action:
“Do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices
God is pleased.” (Hebrews 13:16)
A heart that praises God
cannot remain indifferent to the needs of others. True worship is not only
about the words on our lips but also the love in our hands. Helping the poor,
encouraging the brokenhearted, standing with the suffering, these, too, are
sacrifices that rise to heaven like incense before God.
Blessing and Strength
for the Journey
The passage concludes
with a powerful prayer of blessing: “Now may the God of peace... equip you
with everything good for doing His will, and may He work in us what is pleasing
to Him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.”
(Hebrews 13:20-21)
God does not ask us to
walk this journey alone. He equips us, strengthens us, and works through us.
Even when we feel weak, even when our voices tremble, even when our steps
falter, He is with us.
A Call to Praise, No
Matter the Circumstances
Dear brothers and
sisters, I urge you today: Do not wait for everything to be perfect before you
praise God. Praise Him in the storm. Praise Him in the valley. Praise Him in
the waiting. We know it is not easy to do, but it is possible and lead into discovering
another dimension of worship.
Let our hearts echo the
words of Job:
“The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord!”
(Job 1:21)
Let our voices join with
the Psalmist: “I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall
continually be in my mouth.” (Psalm 34:1)
And let our lives
reflect the words of Jesus: “Let your light shine before others, that they
may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16)
May we be a people of unceasing praise and active love,
offering sacrifices that are truly pleasing to our God.
To Him be glory forever and ever. Amen.
A Prayer of Sacrificial
Praise
Heavenly
Father,
I
come before You today with a heart full of gratitude. Even when my path is
uncertain, even when trials weigh heavy, I choose to offer You a sacrifice of praise.
You are worthy, O Lord, yesterday, today, and forever!
Teach
me to glorify You not only in moments of joy but also in times of struggle. Let
my lips never cease to declare Your goodness, for You are enthroned in the
praises of Your people.
Lord,
may my worship go beyond words. Help me to do good, to love others, and to
share what I have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to You. Fill me with Your
peace and equip me with everything
good for doing Your will.
I
surrender my life, my joys, my struggles, all to You. Be glorified in me, now
and always.
In
Jesus’ name, Amen!
