L'Évangile d'aujourd'hui (Jean 4 : 43-54) nous offre un récit profond où Jésus guérit le fils d'un fonctionnaire royal de Capharnaüm. Ce message s'adresse particulièrement à ceux qui sont confrontés au défi de la foi au milieu des épreuves de la vie. Après un séjour de deux jours en Samarie, Jésus retourne en Galilée – où les Galiléens l'accueillent après avoir vu tout ce qu'il a fait à Jérusalem lors de la fête de Pâque. Malgré la remarque de Jésus selon laquelle « un prophète n'est pas considéré dans son propre pays », le récit se déroule pour révéler la foi profonde d'un fonctionnaire royal dont le fils gisait malade à Capharnaüm. Today’s Gospel (John 4:43-54) offers us a profound narrative where Jesus heals the son of a royal official from Capernaum. Many of us can connect with this story, especially those who are facing the challenge of belief amidst life's trials. After a two-day stay in Samaria, Jesus returns to Galilee – where the Galileans welcome Him, having seen all He did in Jerusalem at the Passover Festival. Despite Jesus' remark that “a prophet has no honor in his own country,” the narrative unfolds to reveal the deep faith of a royal official whose son lay sick at Capernaum. Aujourd’hui, nous réfléchissons sur le dernier chapitre d’Osée (14 : 2-10). Il est significatif qu'Osée ait conclu sa mission prophétique avec un message de repentance, de pardon et de restauration. Il nous livre ainsi une synthèse de son message, nous invitant à le laisser résonner profondément en nous, surtout en ce temps de Carême dont nous sommes déjà dans la troisième semaine. Le message d'Osée peut être reçu aujourd'hui comme une invitation à réfléchir et à méditer sur notre expérience du Carême jusqu'à présent et à nous remettre en question. Où en sommes-nous aujourd'hui avec l'appel initial de Dieu par l'intermédiaire du prophète Joël, nous invitant à « déchirer nos cœurs et non nos vêtements » ? Nous sentons-nous plus proches de Dieu maintenant qu’au début du Carême ? Ou sommes-nous restés inchangés ? Today, we reflect on the final chapter of Hosea (14:2-10). It's significant that Hosea concludes his prophetic mission with a message of repentance, forgiveness, and restoration. In this way, he provides us with a summary of his message, inviting us to allow this resonates deeply in us, especially during this season of Lent, of which we’re already in the third week. Hosea's message can be received today as an invitation to reflect and meditate on our Lenten experience so far and question ourselves. Where are we today with God's initial call through prophet Joel, inviting us to "Tear our hearts and not our garments."? Do we feel closer to God now than when we began Lent? Or have we remained unchanged? Their hearts, described as "hardened" and "stubborn ," choose a different path. They become consumed by their own desires, their own understanding of the world. It's a heart-breaking image – God's hand outstretched, met with closed fists. An Echo in the Shema Jeremiah's message serves as a reminder of what the people already know. The story of Joseph teaches us a powerful lesson about the dangers of jealousy and the power of forgiveness. It shows how even families can be torn apart by envy and hatred. Seeds of Jealousy is really a terrible thing; we should not allow it to be sown in our hearts.  In the book of Genesis 37: 3-28, we learn about Joseph, a young man favored by his father Jacob. The text said that "they (His brothers) hated him, so much that they would not greet him". The special love Jacob had for Joseph sparked jealousy in his brother's heart, who couldn't stand to see him succeed. So, gradually, their hearts were consumed by envy, their jealousy grew so strong that they eventually plot against their own flesh and blood and finally sold him into slavery. This act of betrayal against their own brother highlights a sad truth: family bonds are not always strong enough to overcome jealousy and resentment.
